Wild cabbage orignially grew along the Mediterranean coast and was cultivated around 2500 years ago. Not only today's cabbage but also cauliflower, broccoli, kohlrabi and various other vegetables derive from original wild cabbage. Nowadays the vegetable is less prominent around the Mediterranean but has become a staple in Eastern Europe thanks to its cold resistance.
